About

Kylie's Story

Kylie was born and raised in Brisbane. She graduated from Queensland University of Technology in 1991 with a Diploma of Education, Secondary Art. She went on to further studies part time while teaching to gain her Bachelor of Education. She taught at various High Schools for 8 years but found her true passion after having children and following her dreams to become an artist full time.

For the past 25 years Kylie has made Art her career. Kylie has had art Studios in Teneriffe, Woloongabba , Virginia, Eatons Hill and now in Mount Mee.  She has painted and exhibited for 25 years as well as conducting Art classes for students of all ages. Kylie recently moved  her home studio  to Highgrove Farm at Mount Mee in Queensland.  She has been painting professionally since 2003 and exhibits regularly.

For the past 20 years Kylie has been teaching Adult and Children’s art classes 6 days a week and tutoring private art students. Last year she celebrated 16 years of after school art classes and decided it was time to take the teaching hat off and focus on her own art. However, she will continue to do private classes on the side. Her impact on her students’ lives is extensive, from tutoring preteen artists all the way through to graduating university, and she couldn’t see herself giving that up just yet.

Kylie works mainly in acrylic, with which she incorporates a variety of media to enhance the outcome of her work. She uses a bold colourful palette to capture the energy she draws from her surroundings and her hometown Brisbane. Kylie’s cityscape collection features iconic places and views. Fun, quirky and yet strangely familiar, the paintings take you on a visual journey through Brisbane and its surrounds.

Her ability to adapt her style to create any image is why her work is in such high demand. Versatility is the key, and this is being seen through a few of her new art collections as well as the broad and versatile commissions that she has been focusing on recently.

Kylie is known for her Cityscapes and her Pet Pawtraits and has a growing following for her abstract collections. With the recent move o a farm, keep an eye out for the latest collection, no doubt featuring the farm and its animals.
