Going to the Moon
Kylie was born and raised in Brisbane. She graduated from Queensland University of Technology in 1991 with a Diploma of Education, Secondary Art. She went on to further studies part time while teaching to gain her Bachelor of Education. She taught at High Schools for 8 years but found her true passion after having children and more time to follow her dreams and create full time.
For the past 15 years Kylie has made Art her career. Kylie had a Studio Gallery in Teneriffe, where she painted and exhibited for 7 years as well as conducting Art classes for students of all ages. Kylie moved back into her Home studio in 2016 to spend more time with her family and continue to grow her business. She has been painting professionally since 2003 and exhibits regularly.
Kylie currently teaches Adult and Children’s art classes 5 days a week and also tutors private art students. Last year she celebrated 15 years of after school art classes. Her impact on her students lives is extensive, from tutoring preteen artists all the way through to graduating university, to just brightening their days. Although Kylie stepped out of the class room, her passion for helping others learn and express themselves through art is stronger than ever. She is always inspired by what her students create and the energy and enthusiasm that they bring to each class. It is a constant reminder of how important it is to nurture creativity. Kylie has made it her mission to continue making an impact on young lives and helping them gain confidence in their artistic potential.
Kylie works mainly in acrylic, with which she incorporates a variety of media to enhance the textural outcome of her work. Her paintings invite you to feel the energy of each piece. She uses a bold colourful palette to capture the energy she draws from her surroundings and her hometown Brisbane. Kylie’s cityscape collection features iconic places and views. Fun, quirky and yet strangely familiar, the paintings take you on a visual journey through Brisbane and its surrounds. Her ability to adapt her style to create any image is why her work is in such high demand. Versatility is the key and this is being seen through a few of her new art collections as well as the broad and versatile commissions that she has been focusing on recently.
Kylie finally has the room she needs to grow. She is about to make her biggest impact yet on the community across all ages. While continuing her amazing work with her after school art classes, she is exploring the online world as well as bringing something a little more for the parents. As a mum herself, she understands how easy it can be to send your kids to all of these amazing activities, and forget about yourself! Kylie is working on so many special events and classes that will have something for everyone, and you don't need to be an artist to get arty! Being creative is an incredible outlet for life's stresses and such a healthy way to express yourself. Kylie can't wait to share the happiness that art brings her, with you!
Kylie has had a busy career and it is looking like it will not slow down soon either. For the first time in her business journey, she has hired an employee. The extra set of hands has opened up countless doors, two doors in particular! This upcoming year will see two new studio spaces that will bring the business to a new level. The spaces will focus on inspiring the community through classes, workshops, paint and sip events, as well a brand new supply and merchandise
collection! It is an exciting year ahead, with endless opportunities to explore.
